Welcome to Andy Pandy on Broadway. We are open from 6.00am to 6.00pm and care for children from 2 to 6 years of age.
We offer a warm home like environment and pride ourselves on providing high quality care.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss your child care needs.
Our beliefs towards the children and families:
- Our centre should be inviting and a positive place for all children and families. We shall greet families cheerfully and create displays of children’s work as well as useful information to help families feel welcome at our service.
- That children should be fully supervised at all times. Together we will ensure that the child/ staff ratio is maintained and that we are actively supervising at all times.
- Families should have access to the daily routine and our philosophy by having it displayed in the main room.
- Children learn through play, therefore staff will plan and set activities which are valuable to the children’s developmental needs and interests.
- Our daily routine should suit the needs of the children. We can achieve this by continually updating our routine to suit the needs of the children within our care, making changes where necessary.
- Children should be able to predict the schedule of the day, yet staff should be flexible when necessary.
- Children should not be forced to participate in activities or to socialise, however children will be encouraged to form positive relationships with their peers and carers.
- All parents should have the choice of attending celebrations regardless of their culture or religion. We also believe that families should not be discriminated against or judged upon these choices.
- That cultures of families should be recognised, accepted and appreciated. We show consideration and interest towards these cultures, as well as showing everybody equal respect.
- That all children have the right to express themselves freely through play should have opportunities to discuss their emotionsThat discussions and meetings with families should occur on a regular basis to discuss children’s development and learning progress.
- That we should all have realistic expectations of children based on age, ability and interest.
- All children should be dealt with using patience, encouragement and praise. We will accept that all children are individuals and should never be discriminated against.
- All children should have equal opportunities to learn. We will assist by providing all children with the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiences to aid all areas of their development.
- We believe that all children should receive praise and encouragement. Therefore we will praise the children’s efforts and encourage them to achieve their full potential.
- We believe that opportunities should be offered for families to extend their knowledge.
Our beliefs towards the centre:
- Our centre should be clean and hygienic. Therefore we will all help maintain the current standard of hygiene.
- Our service should be safe and secure at all times. By removing hazards, completing safety checklists and closely supervising the children we can ensure the centre is safe for all children.
- We believe that no materials or display items should be offensive to families. Therefore we will review all materials before being displayed.
Our beliefs towards our community:
- That our centre should participate in celebrations of different culture. This can be achieved by reaching cultures traditions and religions and using this information to celebrate multicultural events.
- The community should influence our curriculum and our teachings. We will take the community and community beliefs into consideration when planning projects, excursions and lesson plans.
We will also strive to be consistent in the following:
- To keep the centre bright we will create visually appealing displays of art work and children’s projects to stimulate children’s creativity, imagination and also provide inspiration
- To keep the centre in good condition for learning, we will make sure the centre is well lit, by opening curtains, turning on lights and where safe, opening doors.
- To give all children equal opportunities we will ensure when setting activities that there are a wide variety of choices and enough toys for all children.
- We will treat all families equally regardless of race, age, family situations, abilities, wealth or gender.
- To consistantly provide families with information and opportunities for learning to increase their knowledge and intellectual abilities.
- We will encourage all families to have input into the centre, as we believe that families are a valuable asset to our centre and should be included in their child’s life at the centre. Therefore all ideas and opinions expressed by families should be considered and appreciated. We believe all children have the right to learn through play in a happy, secure and educational environment.

The transition to school creates many changes in routine for both the children and the family. We believe that you, the parent are the most important link in this transition.
AIMS:
- To ensure each child’s transit to primary school is as smooth as possible
- To ensure each child leaving the centre is both mentally and emotionally ready for the transition
- To engage with families to set goals and expectations for the child
- To utilise additional services, where benefitting the child
- To inform families of what to expect during transition periods
- To maintain an open line of communication between parents, child, our service and the child’s future educational institution
IMPLEMENTATION:
- Communication is the key to bridging the gap between school and home, thus ensuring that your children receive the best start to their education as possible. The staff at this centre will assist both you and your children with the transition to school through including discussions and practical experiences into the program throughout the year in preparation for school readiness. Staff are available to liaise with parents on any issue regarding your children. Please do not hesitate to chat informally or make an appointment for any issues that may need longer periods of time to discuss.
- At the beginning of each year, all parents receive a parent ambition form for that year. We recommend that parents list any and all of their concerns regarding their child’s education to give us ample time to work with the child.
- At the beginning of the final school term, we try to the best of our ability to mimic a school based routine. This includes the reduction of sleep during the day, putting shoes on, introduction to homework and a more active role in the responsibility of belongings.
- Pre-school records will be made available to parents on request should the school need further information regarding the development of your children.
- Whilst in attendance this centre your children will be observed by staff to determine if the child is reaching stated developmental milestones according to age and stage of development. Should staff have any concerns for the child's development, an interview between the Director and Authorised Supervisor and the parent will be requested to discuss and plan short term goals. In some instances further assessment will be recommended by the Director / Authorised Supervisor.
- Professional Early Childhood / Early Intervention consultants -are available in the Bankstown area to assess and set programs in place which will assist children who may be experiencing difficulties in any one of many areas. On request for assessment, a consultant will visit the centre to observe the child. (There is sometimes a long waiting list depending on the demand for assistance at that time). Following this initial visit, the consultant will make recommendations and guidelines for both the staff and parents to work with and arrange follow up visits to observe progress.
- Transition to school advice for parents will be provided each year to assist parents.
